Following steps called " P - A - S - S " are given below.
P - Pull the pin at the top of the extinguisher.
A - Aim the nozzle or the outlet towards the base of the fire (some hose assemblies are clipped to the body of the extinguisher) and then releases the hose and point.
S - Squeeze the handle and lever to release the extinguisher agent. In some cases valves are present. Before approaching the fire try a short burst.
S - Sweep from side to side at the base of the fire unit it is out. After fire is out, watch for the smoldering hot spots and possible reflash. Put off the fire completely.
